Carnaval Del Pueblo in London
Today (August 1st) the city of London will host its annual “Carnaval Del Pueblo”; the largest festival of latin heritage in Europe.
For the 12th year the Carnaval will begin with a parade of vibrant costumes and dances is inspired by the carnivals of Rio de Janeiro, Colombia, Mexico, Cuba, Bolivia, Ecuador and others. This year’s parade theme will be extra special celebrating the 200th anniversary of many south American countries. Expect the parade to begin at 12pm from Elephant Road (Elephant & Castle) and will conclude at Burgess Park at 3pm to mark the beginning of the festivities.
The Carnaval it self is expected to be massive this year. Multiple venues of music and performance are organized from Grammy award winners to salsa dancing groups to workshops. One of the most popular draws is the Open Salsa Dance championship which is expected to be held outside throughout the day and the finals at main stage later in the evening.
Families will also find something for everyone with plenty of activities, workshops, shopping, fun fair rides and food available throughout the park.
